“Free” Speech

“Your right to speak freely stops before it reaches my nose.”

Protiguous, 2020

I mean this literally. As in what you just said, “stinks“.
And as a play on the popular phrase, “My right to swing my fist ends where your nose begins.”

What stinks? Anything presented as the truth when it fails rigorous fact-checks. Fact-checks as done by Experts on the subject matter, by the proper Scientists, and/or unbiased Journalists.

You have the right, the duty, and the responsibility, to yell “Fire!” in a building where others could be harmed or killed by a fire.
However, the fire must be a real event. If there is no fire (“calling wolf!”) then you must also bear the burden of consequences for your action.

I am a huge believer in the innate gift of the right of Freedom of Speech for all Beings.
However, if you abuse that right by spreading falsehoods (lies), then you will suffer the consequences. Think of it as “Karma in Action”.

If Facebook, Twitter, newspaper, media, company, business, or whatever platform fact-checks your statement and finds your statement is spreading falsehoods (lies), then they have the right, the duty, and the responsibility to add a warning label upon or near your statement.

This is NOT censorship. This is not “taking away your right to free speech.” as some morons are claiming. This is NOT political.
This is them attempting to diminish the harm your foolish statements could (will) cause to others.

The fact that morons even have the right to protest these warning labels should realize that they are using that same right they are protesting about being violated!

Hypothetical: Bob buys an advertising space for a road-side banner proclaiming that your vehicle can save gas (increase MPG) by driving double the current posted speed limit.

Jane, as an experienced responsible driver with many years of accident-free history knows this to be false and even worse: dangerous, then she has the right to place a banner immediately before, above, below, left, right, or even after your banner proclaiming that Bob’s banner is wrong and you should NOT raise your vehicle’s speed above the posted speed limit.

What are your thoughts on this? I’d love some civil discussion..

UC Davis Pepper Spray Incident, Four Perspectives

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Still makes me feel ill to this day what our “Law” enforcement officers did.

Shame. On. You.

Facial Recognition Deemed Obscene

By me.

RE: Amazon Pushes Facial Recognition to Police. Critics See Surveillance Risk. – The New York Times

It has a huge potential for abuse. And while I try to personally not commit crimes, I don’t want my whereabouts or my loved one’s whereabouts followed by some corrupt government official, law enforcement officer, or even an [evil] neighbor trailing (lusting) after my wife.

It’s easy to say “hey look! this new technology will catch criminals!”, but in reality humans behave like humans. Meaning 1% corrupt might as well be 99% corrupt.

I know cops say they don’t have quotas to fill, but I have seen (and personally heard) that they do. *Just for the Record: I support my local Officers*. (They’re good guys.) Having quotas (income to the department) to fill just makes the system ripe to abuses from those with low or no ethical standards.

I don’t even like to consider the potential for abuse by a corrupt government official.
But, it will happen.. and by then, I hope the entire world will learn better and ban the easy use of this technology, except for use in extreme cases of violence or criminal acts such as the murder of crowds of People. Or rapists.. God, I hate people who rape or kill.

Justices Approve Strip Searches for Any Offense

Justices Approve Strip Searches for Any Offense – NYTimes.com:

Oh my goodness, this is just ridiculous!
And that ‘judge’ Kennedy says that 13 million people are admitted to the Nation’s jails?

According to Wolfram Alpha, the current population of the United States is 309 million.
13 of 309 million is about 1 out of every 24 people.

THIS IS HORRIBLE ! (Look at 23 other law-abiding citizens.. you’re next!)

Can this be constitutional? Let’s read what the ‘supreme law of the land’ reads: “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.“.

Reads pretty clear to me. A warrant is needed to search a person. Any person. Any time. EVERY TIME.

What the hell.. don’t these ‘Judges’ read the Constitution?

I’m so flabbergasted that I’m not even sure what to say.

I have the right to say the numbers “09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0”.

And no law, no human, no sentient being can take that right away from me.

I hope when FOX ‘News‘ turns its back on you, that you remember pepper spray is only a ‘food product‘.

News

If people are there, and they have something worthwhile to say – regardless of whether it is popular or potentially alarming or against the political status quo – it is news. Good reporters should be covering it, regardless of their personal political preferences – and let Americans come to their own conclusions.

Yes. Truth. Good.

The Angry Birds Defense

So my daughter introduced me to the crazy game angry birds.. 3 coffee pots later I’m thinking to myself, unsure if I’m saying it out loud, “die pig! die!

And then the thought occurred to me, how long before some lame cop is walking by a teenager when the teenager says that very thought out loud?
Of course we all assume the kid has no idea the officer is even there, but with the police-state we are in, the pig cop takes offense and arrests the poor kid for uttering a death threat

Police Abuse

These stories I read about the abuses from police.. it just disgusts me.
These are the officers who we are supposed to depend on to keep us safe!

The Second defends the First.
